UPDATE ON THE LAKE BEHIND CRACKER BARREL

re: Mayor David (Angelo) Penque

Next steps in construction will be reinforcing the banks of the lake with stone all around the lake.   The walkways around the lake probably won’t be finished until Spring

NOTES FROM RECENT CITY NEWSLETTER

LARGE TRASH ITEMS

As a reminder, if you have a large item that you want Rumpke to pick up from your home, call them at least 24 hours in advance at 859-472-7339.

NEW RESTAURANTS

Your Planning and Zoning Commission has approved two new restaurants in our city. One is  Raising Cane’s on which construction has started. They will be located on US 27 by Martha Layne and the County Square Shopping Center. The second is Panera Bread that is due to start construction in the next few months,  located at Matinee Boulevard and US 27. .

CITY OF COLD SPRING

As some of you may know, we do have a 'No Knock List' that you can request to be added to. If you wish to do so, you can find the form on our website www.coldspringky.gov under the forms tab, you can also call the office or stop in. Solicitors are required to purchase a permit from the City Building, and they are provided the ‘No Knock List’. They are required to show ID and give their license plate number. That information is then given to the Police Department so they can run background checks. Always ask to see their permit, if they do not have a permit, you should call Campbell County Dispatch at 859-292-3622.

COLD SPRING WEBSITE AND OTHER CITY POLICY NOTES

We have been adding updates to our website! Visit www.coldspringky.gov to check the shelter and community room rental availability.   You can also report things such as potholes, missing street signs, or any other concerns at the See It Tell Us About It section on the homepage.               We have also added a ‘Forms’ tab for your convenience, so If you need a sign permit, yard sale permit, right-of-way permit, temporary storage permit, or a solicitation permit, please visit our website or you can call or stop by the City Building. Like us on Facebook so you can stay up to date on city news and events.

When walking your dog in our community, remember that it should be leashed.  Also, it is important to remember to immediately clean up after your pet. Take along a baggie with you to pick up waste with and then dispose of it properly. By taking a few simple steps to clean up after your pet, you can contribute not only to the beautification of our community, but also towards the elimination of one of the most irritating nuisances in our community. Thank you for your cooperation!

Temporary signs will not be allowed unless a permit is issued from the City Building. Signs attached to lamp posts, telephone poles etc. or in or upon any portion of a public sidewalk, street, or right-of-way are prohibited.

Real Estate signs are allowed without a permit, but only on the property being sold. Any signs placed in the city right-of-way are illegal and will be removed!

Street spending and a new lake park top a list of priorities for 2018 from Mayor Angelo Penque

Cold Spring  will spend $1.3 million to replace or improve more than a dozen city streets.

The city will award construction contracts to improve banks of the new lake park behind Cracker Barrel, Penque said. Sidewalks and additional landscaping will be added to the park.        Ideas for turning a lake into a park include building a trail for cycling and running, a shelter house and potentially stocking the lake for fishing.
